Together for Girls in ICT: 1st Co-creation webinar on strengthening girls’ participation in ICT

The first webinar of the pICTureURpath project took place online on 23 March 2026, titled “Together for Girls in ICT: Understanding Challenges, Shaping Solutions.” It brought together key stakeholders with the aim of highlighting the main challenges and opportunities related to girls’ participation in the field of ICT.

The webinar aimed to foster an open dialogue on the factors that influence girls’ educational and career choices in ICT, as well as to support the co-creation of policy-oriented solutions addressing existing barriers in the field.

Presenting evidence and insights

During the session, the project team presented key findings derived from secondary research and targeted surveys conducted among teachers, parents, and lower and upper secondary school students. The discussion focused on several core questions, including the barriers girls face in ICT, differing perceptions of the gender dimension among stakeholder groups, and the alignment between existing policy frameworks and their implementation in practice across partner countries.

Collaborative group work

Participants (31 in total) engaged in country-based group discussions, first by reflecting on the challenges through personal and professional experiences, and then by contributing ideas for overcoming identified barriers. These discussions helped generate input for both short-term and long-term policy recommendations.

Co-creation and design thinking approach

The webinar was designed using a co-creation methodology, incorporating elements of Design Thinking. The process encouraged active participation, knowledge exchange, and collective problem-solving. The outcomes highlighted both persistent challenges and promising opportunities for action across all participating countries.

Next steps in the process

The co-creation process continues through:

  1. Online discussions and consultations within the Community of Practice
  2. A follow-up webinar aimed at further developing and refining policy solutions
Save the Date: 7 May 2026, 17:00-18:30 EET

You can find the registration link here to complete the participation form.

Expected impact

The results from the two webinars and the Community of Practice consultations will contribute to a comprehensive report documenting the methodology and outcomes of the co-creation process. This will also support the development of a framework for the pilot implementation of the policy intervention.
